Tri-m Mapalooza (10/27/23)
|
The Herricks Tri-M chapter hosted Tri-Mapalooza, a multi-Tri-M chapter event with over 100 eager musicians, on October 27, 2023. This special event brought over 6 Tri-M chapters around Long Island together to create a deeper relationship between chapters and its members for future collaborations to celebrate the musical community. Co-Presidents Fiona Kuo and Preston Chan, Ms. Arnold (Director of Music), and Dr. Sinanis kicked off the night with speeches welcoming guests and presenting about the purpose and impact of Tri-M. Transitioning from these speeches, a potluck dinner ensued, with participants sharing a variety of foods graciously contributed by attending members. After a quick dinner and bingo challenge encouraging students to interact with friends outside school, participants were set to complete team challenges. Each team attempted to complete various music-related tasks such as blind-folded instrument drawing and playlist making. The winners received prizes such as candy in the spirit of Halloween and each participant received an exclusive Tri-M sticker. Herricks Tri-M would like to thank the following schools for their time and commitment for participating in this event: Port Washington, Syosset, Jericho, Wheatley, Great Neck North, Massapequa, and Herricks Middle School. Tri-Mapalooza turned out to be one of the most exciting events of the year, and Herricks Tri-M hopes to host future collaborations among Tri-M chapters to expand the relationship between all Tri-M chapters.

Back to School Night (9/28/23)
|
On September 28th, Herricks High School successfully hosted its annual Back-to-School Night—in part due to the many Tri-M volunteers who entertained parents by playing music! Students played a range of pieces for parents in the hallways, from classical to pop. Passing time was far from boring with our talented musicians, standing at every corner of the hallway. Students gathered with their friends from the band, orchestra, and choir to perform their pieces, showing the incredible importance of the music department at Herricks. Thank you to our Back-to-School Night performers and we hope this school year runs smoothly for everyone!

Tri-m Initiate Party (8/27/23)
We were so excited to meet with all the new initiates and current members at our Tri-m Initiate Party at Christopher Morley Park on Sunday, August 27th, 2023. Those who came enjoyed an action packed afternoon full of games and activities. We first started off introducing the current board members of the 2023-2024 school year and jumped right into a scavenger hunt. This included answering questions about Herricks Tri-m's various social medias, in addition, to the challenging music related problems. We later moved on to a team-building activity where a team had to carry balloons together without using their arms. Along with many other activities in between, we ended off the afternoon relaxing and talking with one another, familiarizing with all of the students that we will get to work together during this upcoming school year. Thank you for all who brought goods and snacks to share with everyone and we can't wait to see everyone at future meetings. Thank you Co-presidents Fiona Kuo and Preston Chan for planning this exciting event. We hope that you enjoyed this event and can't wait to start the school year.

Herricks Summer Music Program (July 2023)
During the summer of 2023, 15 students in the Herricks Tri-m club volunteered to become counselors for the Herricks Summer Music Program, led by the Herricks music Director, Ms. Anissa Arnold. For 4 ½ weeks, these talented and hardworking musicians put their heart and soul into making music camp as enjoyable as possible for the next generation of musicians. Students, ranging from elementary to middle school, indulged in choral, band or orchestra, and general music classes for a majority of the sessions, working as a whole to create magnificent music. The rest of the time was given for the small ensembles, usually consisting of 4-5 students and led by one of the counselors. On the last day, a performance of both the classes and ensembles was held and turned out to be a huge success. Thank you to all of the students who participated in this camp, the tri-m counselors who partook in this program, and Ms. Arnold and the rest of the teachers who helped make the Herricks Summer Music Program a success. We hope to see everyone next year.
